Abstract

The aim was to analyze conflict resolution strategies in adolescents based on a review of the literature from the last five years. Document analysis was used as the technique, following the PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews. Fifteen articles from four databases (Scopus, Ebsco, Dialnet, and Pubmed) were analyzed. The results indicate that conflicts are associated with various variables, the most relevant being emotional competencies, personal development skills, the quality of interpersonal relationships among peers, and the development of rules for coexistence within classrooms. The most commonly used strategies that are effective in conflict management are good treatment, self-efficacy, empathy, and community norms developed by adolescents, while avoidance strategies such as denial and confrontation increase conflicts. The need to develop intervention programs focused on strengthening emotional competencies and social skills in adolescents, as well as the creation of support networks in educational institutions, is discussed.
