Abstract

The aim was to analyze the influence of mental health policies on access to psychological therapies at San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital, 2023-2024. A survey with two questionnaires was administered to a sample of 160 patients who received psychological care (2023-2024), and the data were analyzed using an ordinal logistic regression model. The majority of participants were between 36 and 50 years old (51.2%) and single (51.9%). Regarding perceptions of mental health policies and services, 47.5% considered access to psychological therapies inadequate, 35% perceived them as moderately accessible, and only 17.5% rated them as accessible. Likewise, 39.4% rated access to psychological therapies as inadequate, while only 21.9% considered it adequate. The statistical model was significant (p < 0.001), confirming a causal relationship between the policies implemented and the level of access to psychological services. These resources reveal a significant gap between the demand for mental health care and available resources, reflecting limited accessibility to therapeutic services. It is essential to strengthen mental health policies through greater allocation of human resources and the implementation of strategies that guarantee timely
and equitable access to psychological therapies.
