Abstract

Independent work in university Physical Education refers to the learning activities that students carry out autonomously, both outside of scheduled class time and during class itself, which contribute to their overall physical development. This type of work promotes active learning, responsibility, and self-management skills, all of which are essential for their professional training. The aim of this study was to propose a methodological alternative through independent work to enhance strength capacity in university students. To carry out the research, methods for collecting and processing information were employed. The population coincided with the sample, which was intentional and non-probabilistic, consisting of 43 first-year students from the Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering program at the “Marta Abreu” Central University of Las Villas. The results obtained through the applied methods confirmed that strength capacity was the lowest among physical abilities and that the theoretical knowledge required for self-preparation was insufficient. These findings served as the basis for designing and proposing the methodological alternative, which was evaluated by experts and deemed appropriate. Once implemented, the proposal led to a notable improvement in strength capacity, as well as in theoretical and practical knowledge. These results highlight the relevance of the developed methodology.
