Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify the factors associated with TB treatment abandonment in patients treated at the Santa Fe health center, Callao, 2021. It was a quantitative study of applied type, with non-experimental design of 46 cases and 92 controls, with a single measurement with prospective collection. Among the main results, it was reported that the risk of a patient dropping out of treatment is nine times higher if they are male (OR=9.138 [3.966 - 21.057]), eight times higher if they use illicit drugs (OR=8.077 [1.605 - 40.641]), four times higher if they use illicit drugs (OR=8.077 [1.605 - 40. 641]), four times more if they consider the waiting time for their care to be excessive (OR=4.107 [1.943 - 8.678]), or if they distrust the effectiveness of the treatment (OR=4.191 [1.945 - 9.032]) or if they consider the amount of medication involved in the treatment to be excessive (OR=4.073 [1.925 - 8.618]). The research concludes by indicating that the factor with the highest risk predictors is related to socio-labor aspects (male patients), followed by the factor Harmful habits (consumption of illicit substances).
