Abstract

The aim of this investigation was to determine if the buildings with basements, affect the seismic behavior, in buildings located in the Peruvian jungle of the Loreto Region, with emphasis on the variation of efforts in the main frames, and the seismic response. buildings were analyzed five (5) stories high with no basements, and with three different levels of basements, 1, 2 and 3, located in the Loreto Region, and its Provinces. according to their seismic and geotechnical conditions of its territorial area. The buildings were modeled in the ETABS V2016 computer program. The results referred to the seismic response showed that the floor shear distribution in buildings with basements were lower on average 32.94% than the buildings that did not present basements, the moments of floor turning in buildings with basements they were lower on average of 23.77% that the buildings that presented basements and mezzanine drifts in buildings with basements were lower on average by 6.85% than those buildings that presented basements. Regarding the main efforts, the basements decreased the efforts in the buildings, in 43.97% and 43.66% in the shear stresses and bending moments respectively. The strengths in the structural elements, the incorporation of basement structures decreases forces. In buildings with five floors and three levels of basements, seismic force increases.
