Abstract

The involvement of women in the field of science has been recorded through history; nevertheless, many of them have to deal with modern stereotypes that have been implanted around the roles of women in science. Hence, this study was carried out to describe the resilient capacity of a group of scientists from the Facebook network called “Comunidad científicas mexicanas” In order to do this, an Ad hoc questionnaire based on eight factors of resilience with a total of 23 questions with Likert rating scale responses ranging from the 1 to 5 points was developed. The results show that the resilience factors with higher prevalence in the scientific practices of women are morality, critical thinking, humor and interaction, among others. Results also indicate that women discover their passion for science at approximately 18 years (72.1%) but in many opportunities they suffer great difficulties in achieving the basic necessities and sometimes they feel unmotivated. Finally, this study concludes that some resilience factors are more important than
others in this type of population and its development should be promoted.
