DEPREDACIÓN LARVARIA DE AEDES AEGYPTI (LINNEAUS, 1762) POR EL BIORREGULADOR GAMBUSIA PUNCTATA (POEY, 1854) EN CONDICIONES NOCTURNAS

Resumen

El objetivo del estudio fue describir la depredación de la fase larvaria de Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus‎, ‎1762‎) por el biorregulador Gambusia punctata (Poey, 1854) en condiciones nocturnas. El estudio se realizó en un tanque de agua potable de origen doméstico con capacidad de 20 000 L. Se ubicaron 10 hembras adultas de G. punctata sin alimentación durante 48 h. Se fijó una videocámara HD de visión nocturna infrarrojo (versión: DV-FR480) y luego, de las 72 h se depositaron, a través de 10 agujeros y en horario nocturno, 10 larvas del mosquito (L3 y L4) de A. aegypti cada 5 min en tres réplicas. Las larvas se amarraron con un hilo genérico de poliéster color negro y se introdujeron al mismo tiempo hasta el contacto con la superficie del agua. Se midió el tiempo (s) de reconocimiento y la depredación de G. punctata. El promedio de reconocimiento y la depredación por G. punctata ante las larvas de A. aegypti no mostró diferencias estadísticamente significativas. La capacidad depredadora de las larvas de mosquito por G. punctata fue instantánea en condiciones de horario nocturno. Se concluye, que la capacidad depredadora de G. punctata es natural y su reconocimiento ante las larvas de A. aegypti transcurre en seg, lo cual es fundamental para mantener el biocontrol de este agente vectorial.
